Medal of Honor Day Ceremony
"We Remember"
The Florida Medal of Honor Memorial will host a public National Medal of Honor Day Ceremony on March 25th, 2026 at 11:00 am.
The Medal of Honor Day 2026 ceremony commemorates the extraordinary courage, sacrifice, and service of America’s Medal of Honor recipients, with special recognition of the 24 recipients connected to the state of Florida. Observed annually on March 25, the ceremony reflects on the origins of the Medal of Honor and includes traditional military honors such as the presentation and retiring of the colors, the National Anthem, the Pledge of Allegiance, invocations, and the playing of Taps. A solemn roll call honors each Florida recipient by name, conflict, and home of record, with a bell and the words “We Remember” marking each sacrifice and reinforcing the collective responsibility to remember their valor.
The program highlights Florida’s role in shaping these heroes through a featured “Florida Connection” story of World War II ace Major Thomas Buchanan McGuire, Jr., and reflects on the six core values embodied by all Medal of Honor recipients: courage, sacrifice, patriotism, citizenship, integrity, and commitment. The ceremony also includes a patriotic musical tribute and the dedication of a new memorial sculpture honoring the 24 Floridians whose actions exemplify service beyond self. Concluding remarks emphasize that the Medal of Honor legacy is not only preserved through remembrance, but through living these values each day, ensuring the Memorial remains a place of learning, reflection, and inspiration for future generations.

The Florida Medal of Honor Memorial invites you to attend our Annual Gala, 5:30 PM, Thursday, October the 22rd, 2026 at Island View of Sun N' Lake.
